The team at Baja United Imports has been traveling the Baja region since 1983 and has been helping to support local orphanages in the area for the last 20 years. It has always been our personal goal to create a business in Baja California, Mexico that would showcase our love for the region while simultaneously giving back to the area. We aim to expand this mission by continuing to provide food, repairs, education and personal advancement opportunities for the children of Baja.
Through our travels and introductions to different orphanages, it’s clear that the challenges exceed our expectations. We’ve learned from a dedicated organization, Corazon de Vida (CDV), that child abuse, neglect and abandonment are world-wide issues. In Northern Baja’s area of Mexico alone there are over 6,000 children living on the streets or amongst dangerous/abusive situations, and thousands more living in extreme poverty. Mexico currently does not have foster care or a welfare system. The only way to care and support children in need is through a network of private orphanages, funded entirely through individual and corporate donations.
Because of this, we have established an ongoing relationship with Corazon de Vida, where a percentage of our profits are sent directly to support their ongoing efforts. Corazon de Vida is a 20+ year US 501C3 non-profit organization providing life-changing support for orphaned and abandoned children in Baja California, Mexico by funding local orphanages, providing quality of life improvement services and investing in the children’s future by funding higher education.
